Certified durable by nature

Building in a sustainable way means building for the long run. After all, the longer things last, the more sustainable they become. When buildings are built to last, less new resources need to be used. Rockpanel cladding, made of stone wool fibres, is durable by nature for many reasons.

What makes Rockpanel durable?

When you’re building with materials which can last for a long time, which don’t require a lot of maintenance and which are firesafe, you’re creating buildings that have more economic value in the long run. Such a building will last long and can be easily transformed into a different use if required in the future. And the good news is: Rockpanel offers just all those features!

The material of our facade boards consists of stone wool fibres, made from the non-depletable raw material basalt, recycled stone wool and secondary raw materials from other industries and a small amount of binder to keep it all together. The stone wool fibres used have many strong characteristics by nature. To name a few: they’re insensitive to moisture and humidity and can withstand extremely high temperatures, which makes them fire resilient. All the good properties of Rockpanel facade cladding therefore come from within, making it highly durable, sustainable and long-lasting by nature.

Long-lasting beauty

When it comes to how long a building can last, it’s not only about the technical requirements, but also about aesthetics. Good news: Rockpanel products remain looking good for many decades. They are resistant to even the toughest weather conditions. Rain, wind, changes in temperature, sunlight: the boards can handle everything.

Rockpanel boards are finished with a four-layer water-based coating, which protects your facade against the effects of UV radiation and preserves the colours for years.

Dirt also doesn’t stand a chance, as the boards are easy to clean and require very little maintenance.

An extra ProtectPlus layer further strengthens the UV resistance and offers increased self-cleaning capacity. The ProtectPlus coating also has anti-graffiti properties. This means that even graffiti can be removed without damage to the facade.

Certified durable by nature

The durability of the Rockpanel boards is proven by reports from external parties. We have an externally verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), verified by IBU, which shows great environmental performance of Rockpanel facade cladding. Rockpanel production is certified to ISO 14001. All Rockpanel facade boards have an officially confirmed lifetime of 40 years by an independent body (ETA).

How sustainable is basalt as a facade material?

How sustainable is basalt as a facade material?

Basalt, the volcanic stone that forms the basis of Rockpanel facade cladding, is a sustainable raw material that is sourced in a responsible way close to our factory. It’s a unique material that offers many advantages, such as fire resilience, high durability, dimensional stability and resistance against moisture. We’ll tell you more about the origin of basalt and how it’s mined.

Exterior cladding made of stone wool: naturally built-in fire safety

One of the many naturally built-in strengths of Rockpanel facade cladding is its fire resilience. And because Rockpanel is firesafe by nature, we don’t need to use toxic fire retardants. We’ll tell you more about how our built-in fire safety contributes to the sustainability of our products.

Rockpanel & fire safety: why is a high melting point of facade materials so important?

Rockpanel & fire safety: why is a high melting point of facade materials so important?

Rockpanel exterior cladding is made from basalt: a volcanic stone which can withstand extremely high temperatures by nature. This naturally built-in strength of stone is a very important aspect of the fire resilience of our sustainable facade boards.
